Campus Abductions
ICE is making a regular practice of abducting international students and post docs from our campus communities and deporting or imprisoning them without due process. The Trump administration claims to have revoked the visas or changed the status of more than 300 international students/scholars. We will post every campus-based abduction that we learn of here.

Mahmoud Khalil
Mahmoud Khalil is a graduate student at Columbia University. He was a leader in the university’s pro-palestine protests. He is married to an American citizen who is pregnant. He was abducted by ICE on March 8 and is being held at a detention facility in Louisiana.

Badar Khan Suri
Badar Khan Suri is a post-doctoral fellow at Georgetown University. He was detained on March 17. He is believd to have been detained because of his marriage to a Palestinian woman, (she is also an American citizen) and because of his perspectives on Israel.

Rumeysa Ozturk
Rumeysa Ozturk is a doctoral student at Tufts University. She was abducted by ICE in as she was heading to meet friends for break fast during Ramadan on March 25. Rumeysa wrote an op-ed for the Tufts Daily calling for the university to acknowledge the genocide of Palestinians and to divest from companies with direct ties to Israel. She has asthma and was abducted without access to her medications.

Yunseo Chung
Yunseo Chung is a South Korean graduate student at Columbia University. ICE attempted to detain Yunseo, a permanent resident, outside of her parent’s house on March 9th, four days after she participated in a sit-in supporting Palestine. A judge preemptively blocked her detainment.

Rasha Alawieh
Rasha Alawieh is an assistant professor at Brown University Medical School. She was detained and deported to Lebanon after attending the funeral of someone with alleged ties to Hezbollah. Alawieh is a kidney transplant specialist.

Alireza Doroudi
Alireza Doroudi is a doctoral student at University of Alabama. He was abducted by ICE agents on March 26th. The university has no information on why Alireza was detained. He is studying mechanical engineering

Kseniia Petrova
Kseniia Petrova is a scientist with Harvard Medical School. She was detained by ICE on February 16 on her way back from a trip to France. She is being/has been deported to Russia—from which she fled to escape political persecution.

Momodou Taal
Momodou Taal is a graduate student at Cornell University who participated in pro-Palestine protests on campus. He has evaded detention but his visa was revoked on March 14th. He has been involved in litigation against the Trump administration regarding the administration’s attacks on student protestors.

Ranjani Srinivasan
Ranjani Srinivasan is a doctoral student at Columbia University in urban and regional planning. She attended some of the protests on Columbia’s campus but maintains that she did not attend the protest that culminated in her arrest. That evening she had been out with friends and on her way home was caught up in protest arrests. Her visa was revoked and she has since fled to Canada.

Xiaofeng Wang
Xiaofeng Wang is James F. Rudy Professor of Computer Science at Indiana University at Bloomington. Among the many roles he plays at the university he is Associate Dean of the Luddy School of Infomatics. His research focuses on cryptography, privacy, and cybersecurity. The FBI raided his home on March 27. Dr. Wang and his wife—a library analyst—have since disappeared and Dr. Wang’s profile has been removed from IU’s website.

Unnamed Student
A student from Minnesota State Mankato was detained by ICE on March 28. University officials have not released the name of the student. They do not know why the student was detained or where the student was relocated. This is the second abduction of a Minnesota university student.

Leqaa Kordia
Leqaa Kordia is the second person targeted by ICE because of her involvement in the Columbia protests supporting Gaza. Leqaa, who is Palestinian, was detained on March 14 and taken to a detention facility in North Texas. Detaining students overstaying their visas is rare according to immigration experts.
